Project Manager

  

Building Envelope Consulting, Inc., based  in Leesburg, VA, is hiring a full time Project Manager for our firm. Our dog friendly office is where we meet once a week so you must be able to organize your time and productivity! Our days are spent as innovative, industry-leading specialists in the diagnosis of building envelope defects and the development of roofing/waterproofing/building exterior repairs and remediation processes. The Project manager (“PM”)  is responsible for developing and managing the day to day operations related to client projects as assigned while concurrently achieving business development goals.

 

As our industry expands and our company grows with Principal Michael Williams (Vice President of RCI) at the lead, employees will be given opportunities to show initiative and drive in their own advancement. Local travel (company car available) will be required to provide services to our clients in the Northern Virginia, DC, and Baltimore, MD regions. The PM’s responsibilities are outlined below.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Project management, per client assignment, from beginning to end including construction observation and construction administration of existing or designs of new building envelopes on commercial and multi-family residential structures.

  • Investigate building defects and recommend repairs including opinions and estimates of cost for repairs.

  • Prepare design and bidding documents.

  • Conduct pre-bid, pre-construction and progress meeting and generate meeting minutes.

  • On site quality assurance inspections, in conjunction with BEC Observers reporting and recommending repairs, accessing building roofs and walls via ladders, scaffolding and / or man-lifts.

  • Perform project research and development of project milestones and strategies for project success tracking and measurement through innovative consideration of construction observations.

  • Achieves productivity, quality and customer-service objectives by establishing and maintaining strong client/contractor/subcontractor communications, both verbally and in writing.

  • Develop and manage BEC project budget for assigned projects

  • Track and achieve annual billing goals as outlined by Principal.

  • Document inspections in detailed professionally written reports as well as providing clear and relevant photographic findings.

  • Fully utilizes firm technology to ensure prompt daily updates and management of explicit reports

  • Advances firm reputation by continually taking ownership for accomplishing new and unexpected requests and continually exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Develop and execute strong follow up process for telephone calls

  • Serve as point of contact for customer service contact on assigned projects.

  • Attend prepared and ready to report at firm’s weekly meetings

  • Attend selective client meetings/functions, on-site projects and all other related duties that may be required to complete company objectives.

  • Represent company at various day and/or evening functions consistently for business development.

  • Work as an extension of the Principal by being aware and prepared for new business opportunities.

  • Actively participate in and strive for personal continued educational opportunities by reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Must have 5 - 10 yrs. of quality assurance, quality assurance, and air and water barrier compliance knowledge on construction projects involving building envelopes or similar experience.

  • Proven and quantifiable project management results.

  • Must have professional communication skills, both written and verbal, applicable to a diverse group

  • Must have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices used in reading, deciphering and formulating and draw construction diagrams and specifications as relevant to the building envelope.

  • Results-driven ability to work without direct supervision.

  • Must be highly detail oriented and organized.

  • Technical experience to confidently use inspection equipment and tools to industry and firm standards.

  • Must have a physical ability to set up ladders and safely and professionally access pitched roofs and other construction job site areas.

  • Excelling at office technology and mobile software workflows including but not limited to willingness to work with Apple products.

  • Must have valid driving record, insurance and reliable vehicle supporting work week visiting project job sites throughout V/D/M.

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree.
